| I went with the woman who'd agreed to help me. Her name is the Seeker of the Sepulchral Veil, and she said we could go into the underworld during the day time. This was something that I didnt realize could be done but I agreed to go with her. We went to the back room in a small run down inn. After she spilled some blood into a bathtub full of water and chanted some sort of spell we both jumped in and somehow landed in the underworld. The fall was black and lonely. I heard the whispers say the words "Spire of Lament." I think this might be where my father is being held. It was a small walk to my fathers house. When we got there the door was ajar. I immediately knew that something had gone very wrong because my father always locks his door. We went inside and searched the house. When I looked through his bedroom I found his traveling bag. This made any and all doubts of my fathers kidnapping disappear. He had always impressed upon me the importance of keeping a small traveling bag ready. He certainly would never leave his behind. I looked closer around his room and I found his journal. As I opened it I felt like I was violating my fathers trust. Unfortunately I had no other choice. Reading it I found out that he had been looking into the rumors about the person who was recruiting ghosts. He had found out that a new castle had appeared in the black chase and that one of his associates was being held there. I showed Veil the journal. In all our searching we didnt find anything else in the house so we made the journey back to creation. On the journey back I asked veil about how she was about to get us into the underworld and she told me a little bit about necromancy. It sounded rather intriguing to me. When I got back I decided to look for the other fellow who had agreed to help me. He is a ghost blood named Aroshi. When I asked around no one had seen him since he had left to check out the Obfuscated Cauldron. I decided that I would go there to look for him. The leaders of the guild caravan seemed quite concerned and went to look as well. When we got to the Inn Morrollan began looking into the underworld. He saw the ghost Salis Shade begin running away. We followed him deep into the lower levels of the inn and then down into the catacombs. They found a door and talked to the god who kept it. Shortly after the conversation Salis Shade turned up. I couldnt see him but Morrollan could. Veil cast some sort of spell that made him appear and then I could see him too. The guild caravan leaders made him tell what he was doing and we found out that the door was a portal to the labrynth. I have never been to the labrynth before and I never planned to go because my father always warned me that it would be too dangerous. He wouldnt like me to go there. He also said that he had been helping to recruit the ghosts, and that Aroshi had been captured. I wonder if Aroshi's capture has anything to do with Pool's ship burning down. It seems like lots of bad things are happening to those associated with this caravan. I wonder what they have done to make someone angry enough to do these things. The guild mistress seemed to be in a great hurry and couldnt take the time to properly deal with this ghost herself. Therefore Pool, Veil, and I took him to the morticians order. The secretary there wouldnt let us talk to anyone important but they did take Salis Shade away to be interrogated. - Mood:stressed

| During the night the master of ships, Pool of Compassion, lost his ship. It seems that some kind of monsters burned it to the ground. The guild is going to compensate him for his loss. From how things sounded it seems that this wouldnt have happened to him if he wasnt working for the guild. It made me think back to when the advisor, Morrollan, was telling me that the man was trying to capture me. Maybe Morrollan was right in this assessment. He probably knew what the man was trying to do to me because bad things are happening to many of the people the guild employs. Someone must be very upset with this guild caravan if they try to harm people who merely delivered a few messages for them. Later I had a meeting with the leaders of this caravan regarding my father. They started asking my all kinds of questions about my father. I didnt really know that much about him. He never wanted to tell me and Ive always loved him too much to invade his privacy. I tried to tell them everything that I knew. And to answer all the questions without saying that "I dont know." They seemed like the kind of people who would not be impressed by those words. I guess what I told them wasnt good enough for them. They began harshly interrogating me and asking who my father worked for. I didnt know the answers but they did not believe the things I said. Soon I could feel someone probing in my mind. I think it must have been Morrollan. He was the harshest of them all. I was quite horrified that someone would do this too me. I felt utterly violated. They kept pushing me and pushing me for more information. I reached into the farthest corners of my mind trying to think of everything my father had ever told me but the only things I could think of were the awful rumors I had heard here and there concerning him. I wouldnt even think of sharing rumors about my father with anyone. That would be such a violation of his trust. In the end the mistress told me she couldnt help me. I felt quite indignant. I can understand why they would not want to help me, they just met me a few days ago. However to not help me because I couldnt tell them who my father worked for just wasnt fair. And to accuse me of lying! The only lie I made was refusing to say the words "I dont know." However I did my very best to keep an even temper and just asked in great dissappointment "So there is nothing else you can do to help me?" I didnt know what I was going to do. It would have been so hard to look for him alone. Thankfully two of the mistresses companions told me they would try to help me. One said he would check out the underworld portion of the Obfuscated Cauldron and the other said she would go to my fathers house with me. I was a little wary about taking a stranger into my fathers house, but I found out that she had actually worked with him and had even been to his house before. | |

| Today I ran a message from the guild mistress to her master of ships. Upon delivery he asked me to accompany him to a party. I gladly accepted due to the fact that he paid me three messages worth. Delivering three messages in one night is hard dangerous work. This seemed like a much more relaxing way to earn a little money. Very soon after we arrived at the party the ship master, Pool of Compassion, ditched me for a woman he met at the party. I guess he used to be a pirate, so I figured maybe thats just what pirates do. And it left me free to roam around the party as I liked. A little while into the night a short squat little ghost named Salis Shade approached me. He explained to me that he was a friend of my fathers and then told me that my father had been captured and is up in the Black Chase. The news was just devastating to me. I think am still in shock from it. I just dont understand why someone would do this. No ghost desrves to be kidnapped. And to do it to my father... It is just such a terrible thing. I didnt really know what to do but I knew that I must try to find him. I saw the guild mistress and asked her if she could help me. I wasnt too hopeful because she doesnt even know me. Quite to my surprise she told me she would see what she could do. I am just so thankful. It will be so much easier to rescue him if I have help. I spent the rest of the evening talking to other ghosts and trying to find out more about where my father could be. I learned that there is a newcomer to the city named the Guardian of Shadows Journey. He came about two weeks ago and has been recruiting ghosts of every occupation. It seems that if the ghost doesnt want to be recruited the Guardian takes them anyway. The people I talked to said they thought I could find out more at the Obfuscated Cauldron. I decided that I would try to spend the rest of the night sleeping so that I could dedicate my all in the morning to find my father. He means so much to me and I will do anything it takes to find him. - Mood:distressed

| This morning I went to tell the man who wanted me to deliver a message to Mirallus (his name escapes my memory at the moment) that everyone in the city was dead. When I got to the house I thought he lived in it was nothing like I remembered it. In fact it seemed to be abandoned. I knocked on the door and it swung right open. Instead of seeing a lavishly decorated place I saw a building that was falling apart. No one seemed to be there. I went over and knocked on the neighbors door right off. When I asked him about the house he acted very weird about it and told me that no one had lived there for years. I didnt really know what was going on. It all felt very strange to me, but I decided that since I had been paid to deliver a message I would do my very best to deliver it. I couldnt have felt good about any other course of action. I borrowed a horse from the Order, they are such great people to work for, and started on my way. Right outside of Sijan I ran into the guild mistress who was accompanied by a small party. I went ahead and traveled along with them as we were taking the same route. When we arrived at the city everything did seem to be dead. But then I saw someone moving around between the buildings. I wanted to go down and ask them if they knew where I should deliver my message but the guild people wanted me to wait for them. When we finally went down the man seemed very angry. He yelled "You were supposed to come alone." The guild members and the man got in a small scuffle and the man ran off. I wasnt really sure what I should do with my message so was pondering what should be done. I was considering just leaving it at the address I had been given. I was jolted out of these deep thoughts when the guilds mistress's advisor , I think his name is Morrollan, started telling me that the man they scuffled with was out to get me and also this other man named Joe Farmer. It all seemed a little far fetched to me. I mean I dont even know anyone named Joe Farmer. Besides even if he was out to get me it didnt seem to take much to scare him off. After they talked to me for a while they started trying to get me to let them open the message up. I didnt feel very good about it. A good courier doesnt open up their messages let alone allow anyone else to do so. But they made a convincing argument so finally I gave in. Thankfully the message was nothing important, just a blank sheet of paper. Still I hope that the incident doesnt get around. I would hate for something like this to hurt my reputation. - Mood:worried

| This week work has been a little slow at the Morticians Order. I guess there havent been too many deaths lately. Today all of the few messages that needed to be delivered were either of the lowest importance and handed out to the trainees or of such an important nature that the Overseer of Correspondence for all Living and Dead handled them himself (maybe if I work hard I can someday rise to that important position). I spent most of the day running messages back and forth for the mistress of a guild caravan that recently arrived in town. She was a rather odd woman in that she allowed me to sit in on some of her meetings despite this being the first time I had ever worked for her. It was an opportunity I was sure not to pass up since often one will get additional work while sitting in on a meeting. I didnt listen too closely to all that they were talking about as a good courier never shares information they learn while working anyway. However one thing that did catch my attention was that the city of Mirallus has apparently been attacked. From what they were saying it sounded like everyone was dead. This news was quite a shock to me because earlier in the day someone had hired me, and I must say paid me quite well, to deliver a message to that city. I will have to stop by first thing in the morning to see if they still want me to attempt to deliver it, or if they would prefer I give them the message and money back. - Mood:curious
